JINX is an expectant Mom
When wonderful Lady Jinx joined our family there was a good chance that she was pregnant as she has been abandoned by her previous owners and my Friend Caz rescued her. It was obvious by the male dogs that she was more than interesting at Caz’s house. We believe that Maxi- million is the daddy. Max is another stray that found his way to Caz’s house and he has developed into this really wonderful dog.
Max is a big talker and loves Bern with such a passion. Lucky for us we get to see him quite often as we visit Caz as often as we can.
Now Madam Jinx has settled in beautifully to our home, and will still be the death of me I am sure. She has now developed this wonderful habit of waking me up when she needs to go outside. This I am very pleased about, but her choice of a wake call Not So Much.
I am in this deep slumber and dreaming sweet dreams when she pounces on my chest and tries to give me the kiss of life. I am met with Doggy Breathe of the most wonderful kind and no matter how much I try to turn my head away she has me pinned with her big paws and get carried away kissing me. If I do not get up quick enough she then proceeds to chew on my toes. Wet tongue sharp teeth manipulating my toes is not my idea of a pedicure! So I try to pull my feet under the duvet but this then results in HUNT THE TOES and she burrows into the duvet looking for her Toe Treat.
So I dutifully get up and stumble to the alarm to deactivate it. By now Jacque and Fi are also awake and wanting to go outside. Kitty thinks its food time and slinks between my legs as I walk in typical cat motion(not me walking in typical cat motion although my need to go to the bathroom could be mistaken as a cat motion!)-I am sure she does this to see my reaction as I have no co-ordination at that best of times whatsoever – but definitely not in the very early hours of the morning I am playing dodge the animals and gladiator as I am bumped and jumped on and pushed into the doors, the walls, and the bed in their excitement to go outside.
This game is not so much fun for me and I have the bruises to prove it but my voice must sound quite different in sleep mode as they pay absolutely no attention to me whatsoever. I feel like those skittles in 10 pin bowling when I am doing the 100 yard dash to the back door to let the dogs out. I am sure the dogs believe they are on NASCAR they way they dart towards the inter-leading door in the passage waiting for me to open it up and invariably I go flying at their jostling.
Now Jinx is still very clumsy as she is in the last days of her puppy era and she always, always gets her head stuck in the opening of the door as I try to open it. Her shoulders prevent me from opening it further and she looks up at me in disgust as I am just not working quickly enough for her.
So I have to nudge her with the door softly so I don’t hurt her and then the final lap of this race is to the back door, when Jacque Russel (Little Boy as we call him) does his Kangaroo dance. He jumps up on one spot until I open the door. Fiona of course cannot be left out and she decides it’s now time to dance with mommy.
Up on her hind legs she pounces on me, her paws on my shoulders and we do the midnight waltz. Ah the joys of that very much needed midnight wake up call. To add insult to injury this happens at least three times a night now as Jinx is experiencing the joys of being pregnant and suffers the same bladder pressure that all expectant mums suffer worldwide!
Jinx’s best friend is Monster Kitty and they play catches all the time. We estimate that Jinx should be about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant now and her once sweet slim figure is decidedly rounded. As she chases Kitty I remind her that she is an expectant MOM and she must behave in a manner befitting her condition. This of course has no effect as she licks me and bites me gently to show just how seriously she takes my admonishment.
She and Kitty destroy my bedroom in 3 seconds flat. Kitty darts from the chest of drawers, to the top Television perched like a cheetah about to pounce, wriggling her bottom in the attack mode - to the bedside tables to the Television cabinet, back onto the top of the Television; then on to the window-cill and all of this is don’t in fast forward motion.. Jinx tries to catch her and stumbles and fumbles and does her best to catch Kitty. Kitty’s reward to her, is a fact action jabs to her head or tail or Butt and she is always out of Jinx’s reach as she has the speed of lightening and ahhhh poor Jinx, the speed of a sloth!.
I have a carnival at home and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
