Adventure at the Corner Garage 8th Oct 15h30

Don’t go to the Corner Garage unattended! 8th October 15h30. This really Happened at the precise time I mentioned. I must have "Talk to me" tattooed on my forehead!

I pull into the corner garage to go and get something from the garage café only to have my car door ripped open by this burly woman who asks me where I come from. I look up at her, expecting this blond woman who is quite intimidating to put a gun to my head as she takes my car and drives off. I am just about to wet my pants!

Ummmm I answer in a very timid voice, from up the road and I hope to be going back there please”

She walks up to the back of my car and I swear she is going to kick it with her size 9 boots. I now understand where the saying “Ladies in comfortable shoes” comes from. She is quite manly in her manner and very gruff. She is quite manly in her manner and very gruff. She has the cut off sleeves on her shirt to show her muscles. Big ankle boots, I am sure the safety type - And Big baggy shorts and looks like she works with machinery or something. Was driving a Municipal Van!

She looks at my number plate and say “We are going to slaughter you"

Well by now my heart is racing and I am backing away trying to get back into my car and start the engine.

"So what does the WP stand for she asks?" I look at her very confused as if this is some quiz I havent been given the clues for and she hits the number plate nearly dislodging it from the car.

Light dawns on marble head – My number plate for my company car is WP region. She says "So you obviously a western province supporter.?" Which I most definitely am not but if I was I would have denied it vehemently at that point.

I say “No I am a Sharks Supporter to the end”

Now if you know me at all you will know I do not follow sport at all and even when I went to the Lions –vs.- Sa Game here in Durban I really tried to get out of it. Although I have learnt to enjoy them a lot more than I did before the game.

Be that as it may, I have no clue what the players names are and what they do I just like to watch Bern get all het up over the game and I must admit my heart does beat faster when we have the ball and are on our way to the try line. See I even know that now!

She then starts talking about this Steyn guy and hopes he doesn’t kick so well and I say "Oh yeah I agree!"

Who is this Steyn guy by the way - I think to myself.

I am then told that our Springbok plays are going to play this game. Still don’t know what game she is talking about. I smile so sweetly and agree and do the whoop whoop sign with my fist and do an air punch hoping she will see I am really into this Game thing.

She then asks me if I think we will win and what is my favourite player and position. So I smile and say. Hey” I am very fond of couch Rugby as I leave the shop and dash to my car. I hope to hell she doesn’t locate me.

That is the last time I drive my car around when the Sharks are playing the Stormers. At least I think it is the Stormers or is it the Bulls (see I have no clue) for Western Province
